Royal Cup, Inc. and Cheeriodicals Spread Cheer to Hospitalized Children

Reading time: 3 minutes

More than 400 employees from Royal Cup, Inc. will spread cheer in the form of 600 big green cheer-up boxes to patients at Children’s of Alabama, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s at Vanderbilt, Seattle Children’s and Diamond Children’s Medical Center Tucson during "Cheeriodicals Day" events. Cheeriodicals are "big green boxes of cheer" made up, in this case, of age-appropriate magazines, activity books, puzzles and toys for the children to enjoy.

Royal Cup employees, who are in Birmingham for their annual company meeting, volunteered their time to assemble the boxes.

"We were thrilled to have Royal Cup and Cheeriodicals visit Children’s of Alabama," said Kelly Baker, Special Events, Children’s of Alabama. "We sincerely appreciate Royal Cup sponsoring this day of smiles for the children and families.”

"We're excited to work with Royal Cup to deliver cheer to hospitalized children in four different cities across the U.S.," said Gary Parisher, President of Cheeriodicals. "A team of 400 Royal Cup employees assembled the gift boxes, and then a smaller team personally delivered the gift boxes to Children’s of Alabama. It’s been amazing to be part of such large effort by Royal Cup to spread cheer across the country!”

After a special delivery to Children’s of Alabama, which arrived courtesy of one of Royal Cup’s familiar brown delivery trucks, Cheeriodicals staff and enthusiastic Royal Cup team members began handing out the big green boxes of cheer to patients and their families at the hospital. The boxes were tailored to both boys and girls in several different age groups, and are sure to bring joy to the children. Royal Cup teams based in Nashville, Seattle and Tucson will also make special Cheeriodicals deliveries in their respective markets within the next week.

“Giving back to the communities in which we are fortunate to live and work is one of our core values,” said Bill Smith, CEO at Royal Cup. “We are grateful for the opportunity to bring Royal Cup employees together and spend some time helping to spread cheer to hospitalized children and their families in four different cities across the country.”

Cheeriodicals Day is catching on across the country as corporate teams have now delivered more than 40,000 Cheeriodicals to hospitalized children. Cheeriodicals has worked with children's hospitals in dozens of markets nationwide, including: Houston, Phoenix, Dallas, Cincinnati, Chicago, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco, and plans to continue working with corporate sponsors to bring cheer to children's hospitals throughout the country.
