Green Tea Detox Drink

Whether you had one too many cocktails over the weekend or your jeans are a feeling a little extra snug lately, we have a healthy and delicious solution to help you beat the bloat -- our green tea detox drink. We won't claim that this'll make you shed pounds overnight, but it will definitely keep you hydrated and help your body flush out toxins. As always, check with your doctor before trying a new health regimen. 

Why this detox tea works:

Ginger- You’ve probably heard that ginger is great for stomachaches -- and there’s a good reason why. Ginger is the ultimate tummy soother, and a 1982 study in the British medical journal The Lancet even found that ginger was more effective than Dramamine in reducing motion sickness. 

Lemon- Lemons are an alkaline food that helps restore and balance your body’s pH. Lemons also contain pectin, a soluble fiber that may help in weight loss.

Tumeric- Tumeric helps protect against liver damage and fights overall inflammation (read: it could help you feel less puffy and bloated).

Cinnamon- Cinnamon regulates your blood sugar and increases insulin levels. It also delays the passing of food from the stomach to the intestine, so it makes you feel satisfied for longer and potentially eat less throughout the day.

Green tea- Hot water is obviously hydrating, but it also helps to flush out toxins and cleanse your body. This study showed that green tea may also aid in boosting your metabolism. 


1 Tbsp. H.C. Valentine Green Tea Summer Solstice

2 Tbsp. lemon juice

1/4 tsp Turmeric

1/4 tsp Cinnamon

1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger

6 ounces boiling water


Combine all ingredients in a Teaze brewer and steep for 1-2 minutes. Strain and enjoy.
