Using Coffee to Liven Up Your Menu

We typically think of coffee as a morning pick-me-up or post-dinner treat, but did you know its original use dates back to East African tribes incorporating coffee berries into their regular diet as an energizing food source? Fast forward to 2019 and coffee can now be found as an ingredient in cuisines from around the world. We love finding new and exciting ways to incorporate Royal Cup coffee into recipes for any occasion, so here are a few seasoning recipes we know will take your food game to the next level:  

Coffee – Paprika Salt

1 Tbsp. Freshly Ground Royal Cup Coffee

1 Tbsp. Hot Smoked Spanish Paprika

2 Tbsp. Flaky Sea Salt

Instructions

Mix coffee, paprika and salt in a small bowl. Use as a seasoning on proteins.

Basic Steak Coffee Rub

2 Tbsp Ground Royal Cup Coffee

½ Tsp Chili Powder

Pinch of Salt

Pinch of Pepper

Instructions

Mix coffee, chili powder, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Rub liberally on steak before cooking.

 

Complex Steak Coffee Rub

2 Tbsp Ground Royal Cup Coffee

2 Tbsp Ancho Chile Powder

5 Tsp Dark Brown Sugar

1 Tbsp Hot Smoked Spanish Paprika

1 ½ Tsp Dried Oregano

1 ½ Ground Pepper

1 ½ Ground Coriander

1 ½ Mustard Powder

1 Tsp Chile de Arbol Powder or ¾ Tsp Red Pepper Flakes

1 Tsp Ginger

1 Tbsp Kosher Salt

Instructions

Mix all ingredients in a small bowl.  Coat your steak with 5 tsp. spice rub per steak before cooking.
