In this edition of ‘What’s In Your Cup,’ we sat down with Adam Reilly, a Senior Accountant here at Royal Cup. Since joining the company nearly two years ago, Adam has played a key role in our finance team, bringing behind-the-scenes expertise, a passion for numbers, and thoughtful presence to every project.
We kicked off our chat by asking, “Adam, what’s in your cup?”
“At work, I love trying all the different varieties we offer, macchiatos, lattes, cappuccinos. But my go-to is definitely a cappuccino. It’s the best,” Adam said. “At home, I keep it simple with a Colombian coffee in my drip coffee maker and just a splash of half and half.”
Adam’s second anniversary at Royal Cup is just around the corner, but his impact has already been felt across the company. “I may not have been here as long as some others, but I’ve seen a lot, and I feel like I’ve contributed a lot, too,” he said.
As a Senior Accountant, Adam is responsible for tracking all the company’s fixed assets, including beverage equipment loaned to customers.
“That’s my baby,” he said with a smile. “I manage where all the equipment is, how it depreciates, and make sure it’s all properly accounted for.”
In addition to equipment, Adam also handles property taxes and supports the finance team in preparing financial reports and statements.
“There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes work that goes into what we do,” he explained. “It may not sound exciting to everyone, but I love it, it’s a great fit for me.”
Adam is quick to point out that it’s a team effort.
“There are a lot of moving parts, and I’m just one piece. But the people on our team are incredible. Everyone cares deeply about what they do and are some of the best people I’ve ever worked alongside,” he said with a grin.
Before coming to Royal Cup, Adam worked in the manufacturing sector. His background helped him develop a strong understanding of business operations, but accounting was always calling.
“I’ve always loved logic and numbers,” he shared. “Growing up, I knew I wanted to do something involving math, I just didn’t know it would be accounting until I got to college.”
While Adam doesn’t interact with customers directly, he takes great pride in the reach and visibility of Royal Cup’s brand.
“I love how widespread our customers are. I’ll walk into a Waffle House, hotel lobby, or a car dealership and spot our coffee setup and it’s so cool to see that,” he said. “Even if the logo’s not there, I know it’s us. I get a lot of joy just finding Royal Cup out in the wild.”
Ask Adam what makes working at Royal Cup special, and you’ll hear the same thing echoed throughout the company: the people.
“It’s a great group of people who genuinely care about the work they are doing and the people they are working alongside with,” Adam said with a smile. “I really appreciate the culture of people who care, not just about the work, but about each other.”
For Adam, one of the best parts of working at Royal Cup is the culture and he praises the leadership team for their role in creating it.
“I have a lot of praise for our leadership team for fostering an environment where a group of people work together like that,” Adam said. “Our leaders truly want to hear your ideas. They bring you into meetings, ask for your input and consider your perspective when making decisions. It takes more effort to lead like this, but it creates a better environment and makes people happier.”
As our chat was coming to an end, we asked Adam about some of his hobbies outside of The Cup. When Adam’s not in the office, you’ll likely find him working on his home or soaking up time near the water.
“I bought my first home a couple of years ago. It’s an older townhouse, so there’s always a project,” he said. “I love making it a space that’s comfortable for me.”
His happy place? Anywhere near water.
“The beach is my favorite vacation spot, and my parents have a lake house they’re moving into soon,” Adam said. “I grew up boating, so I’m excited to make that a regular thing again.”
For those just starting their careers, or looking to grow, Adam believes soft skills make all the difference.
“You need technical knowledge, sure. But soft skills are what really move you forward and sets you apart,” he said. “Having an open mind, listening to others, being able to communicate well, those things are powerful.”
When asked what separates Royal Cup from the competition, Adam didn’t hesitate.
“It’s the level of service. We really go above and beyond to make customers happy. From installing and maintaining equipment to delivering the product and being available when something breaks. That kind of hands-on service is rare, and I don’t think many others can do it the way we do,” he said. “And let’s be honest, our coffee is just good. The quality of our products is unmatched.”
Whether he’s balancing budgets, solving problems, or just enjoying a cup of coffee, Adam Reilly is a reminder that every role at Royal Cup, customer-facing or behind-the-scenes, plays a part in delivering excellence.
Stay tuned for the next edition of What’s In Your Cup.
