Over A Quarter-Million Dollars Donated to Neverthirst

Reading time: 2 minutes

In November of 2016, we teamed up with the international nonprofit, Neverthirst. With our Roar coffees, you have helped raise 2¢ for every cup, all 13,139,080 cups to be precise.

We created a simple program, the Roar single-serve coffee system. At this very moment, it’s likely that a businessperson is placing a Roar pod into their machine, hitting “Brew Now” and donating to Neverthirst. It’s as easy as that – 2¢ from every single serving (whole bean or pod) of Roar coffee goes straight to Neverthirst and helps them achieve their mission.

Many of us turn the tap water on and have a glass right then and there. However, for many parts of the globe, this is far from reality.

More than 3.4 million people die each year from "water, sanitation, and hygiene-related causes." Let that sink in for a minute. Now think of that number and each of those faces. Nearly all of these deaths are in the developing world – India, Cambodia, South Sudan and Sudan. Shockingly, diarrhea, which is caused by the consumption of bacteria in drinking unsafe water, kills 2,195 children every day. That is more than AIDS, malaria and measles combined. Drinking water is far from common in these areas of the world, and that’s time these people could spend in school or building up their communities.

We had to find a way to help. Coffee wouldn’t exist without clean water, and thus, neither would Royal Cup. In addition to our daily does of caffiene, our first-world problems, like Snapchat updates and Instagram likes, pale in comparison.

Since its inception in November 2016, we are ecstatic to share that we have raised over a quarter-million dollars, $250,000, for Neverthirst. These donations are used to build wells and water-filtration systems for communities in Cambodia and India. Neverthirst has used Roar funds to build two WASH projects for schools in Cambodia, which provides a bio-sand filter, a hand-washing station, a latrine block consisting of four to six toilets with disable access and hygiene education. The organization has also completed 9,737 projects (wells, filters, etc.), served nearly half-a-million people across six countries.

What can I do to help?

First, take a quick look through Neverthirst’s website to learn about the need and work happening right now across the globe. You don’t have to be an expert to share the need; educate those around you! Join the conversation on Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #Roar4Change. Neverthirst needs people like you to help spread the word. No idea is too big or too small – take a tip from this guy’s bike ride from Birmingham, Alabama to the Canadian border or Crossfit’s WOD for Water! Lastly, grab another cup of some Roar coffee – the more you drink, the more you donate. If you don’t have a Roar machine in your office, click HERE to get started.

Sure, it’s some great coffee, but the most satisfying taste is knowing you’re helping Neverthirst provide clean water to communities around the globe.
